This is a summary of the rules. The full set of rules can be found on the YRM website. More detailed
help can also be found on the YRM Forum and on the individual group forums.
Introduction
Welcome to Yahoo! and neopolyīs extraordinary
race simulation game! Are you ready to become World Champion?
A season spans two months and 19 races.
Your task as a manager is to lead your driver to success.
You can choose from a variety of settings,
ranging from engine optimization to driver training and strategy modification via race radio.
Your
racing team begins with a car, a driver, 1 million in cash and 60 turns. Many actions during the game use up turns and cost
money. Therefore, it is important to budget your turns and money. Otherwise, you might possess a good car, but lack the money
to do a qualification lap.
New money: Every day at midnight you'll receive 500,000 in cash,
revenue from your sponsor.
New turns: Youīll get one new turn every full hour.
The Car
Your car's condition
is very important for your racing team:
The car's status: In case of a collision, a gross driving mistake or engine
problems, your carīs status will decrease. When the condition has reached 0%, the car isnīt roadworthy any more. You should
check regularly if your car is ok, otherwise the lap times won't be optimal any more.
Car optimization: You can
make basic modifications on the chassis, the engine performance and on the engine stability. These optimizations require a
lot of money, but are useful during the whole season. Unfortunately, such modifications have a negative influence on the fine
tuning, so that a few training sessions have to be performed to restore the optimal fine tuning.
Modifications on the
car: Depending on the circuit, you have to adapt your car to the local environment. There are several rules of thumb:
1) In case the surface is bad, you need a soft springing.
2) Winding tracks need less top speed, but more acceleration.
3) At low top speed, a flat wing position provides the right pressure on the transaxle.
The Driver
Each racing team has one driver. In case the driver is injured, the car has to stay in the garage. Hereīs an overview
on the driver attributes:
Fitness: Each race mile decreases the driverīs fitness. When the fitness reaches 0%,
the driver is exhausted and cannot reach optimal lap times any more. However, even a tired driver can train further and enhance
his attributes. Fitness regenerates by 10 % an hour - the driver takes a rest.
Kilter: The kilter is the upper
limit of the fitness. A driver with a high kilter value therefore has a higher fitness value.
Health: Due to a
collision or a driving mistake, the driver might get injured and his health value decreases. A driver with a health value
of below 80 % is injured and cannot drive. His health will improve during the night.
Overtaking: To be successful
in the race, it is not sufficient to possess a fast car. Only a driver who has good overtaking skills will manage to pass
other drivers without collisions.
Top speed: Top speed is the most important value for fast circuits. The higher
the value is, the better are the lap times.
Bend driving: Bend driving is the most important talent for slow circuits.
The higher the value, the better are the lap times.
Pit Stop: Training Pit Stops helps avoiding losing too much
time at the pits.
Mental strength: A mentally strong driver makes less driving mistakes and constantly reaches
better lap times.
Track knowledge: The better the driver's track knowledge is, the faster will he drive on this
specific track. Note: the "track knowledge" attribute has an impact solely on the track on which it has been trained!
Training
During training,
test laps can be driven for just a little fee. Naturally, the driver will get a little exhausted. In case the fitness drops
to zero %, the driver cannot concentrate properly and his lap times will decrease.
These are the training laps' advantages:
Check of car configuration : After having modified the car, you can check the modification's success by doing a
training lap. An increase in lap time means that the change made sense.
Improving car fine tuning : Whenever you
modify chassis, engine, or aerodynamics, the fine tuning value drops to 0 %. It increases with each training mile until it
reaches 100 % again.
Optimization of driver attributes : By this training emphasis you determine which driver attributes
shall be trained or decide to let the technicians concentrate merely on the carīs fine tuning.
Training Emphasis
Narrow bends: This emphasis
trains the driver attribute "bend driving".
Fast bends: This emphasis improves the driver attributes "bend driving"
and "top speed".
High speed: This emphasis improves the driver attribute "top speed".
Start: This emphasis
improves the driver attribute "mental strength" and "overtaking".
Overtaking: This emphasis improves the driver
attribute "overtaking".
Driving in lee: This emphasis is a global training, there are several attributes that will
be improved.
Pit Stop: This emphasis improves the driver attribute "Pit Stop".
Braking: This emphasis
improves the driver attributes "kilter" and "overtaking".
Threshold: This emphasis improves the driver attribute
"kilter".
Traction: This emphasis improves the driver attributes "bend driving" and "overtaking".
Track
exploration: This emphasis improves the driver attribute "Track knowledge".
Aerodynamics, engine optimization,
chassis tuning: This emphases improve the fine tuning process in the respective areas.
Qualifying
During qualification, the positions in the
starting grid are determined for the upcoming race. You may drive 4 qualification laps. According to experience, it is wise
to do a "safe" lap; this means that your driver is taking less risks. Depending on your financial situation, you may do more
laps with more venturous settings
